Dr. Cole Discusses:
What are Dermal Fillers and How do they Work?
Dermal Injectable Facial Fillers are used to smooth away lines around the mouth and to restore the loss of fullness that can occur with aging in the cheeks, lips and jawline. Dermal Fillers like Botox are a non-invasive, non-surgical option in the anti aging arsenal.
Dermal Fillers are injectable wrinkle fillers that can give you a more youthful look for a fraction of the cost of traditional face lifting. The procedure takes usually less than 30 minutes and the results can last up to one year. Unlike Botox, which is injected into the muscle to relax the muscle under the wrinkle; Dermal Fillers are a gel like substance that is injected to plump up skin and fill in facial wrinkles. Thus restoring a smoother more youthful appearance.
Hyaluronic Acid Dermal Fillers such as Juvederm are a good choice due to their compatibility with the human body. In fact HA (Hyaluronic Acid) is a natural substance found in the body. High concentrations are found in soft connective tissues and in joint fluid, and skin tissue. Juvederm dermal fillers are sterile gels consisting of non-animal, cross-linked, Hyaluronic Acid (HA) and are made in a laboratory. HA as noted is a naturally occurring sugar found in the skin. These Dermal Fillers contain no human or animal DNA and have one of the best safety profiles of all the Dermal Fillers on the market.
When this gel is injected it acts like an inflated cushion to support facial structures and tissues that may have lost volume or elasticity due to the natural aging process. It also brings water to the surface of the skin to keep it looking fresh and hydrated.
The results are immediate and patients can resume normal activities right after treatment. Mild bruising, swelling or redness can occur post treatment typically resolving spontaneously within 2 to 10 days.
Dermal Fillers are a safe and effective way to restore facial volume and reduce wrinkles.
