 The device was released in Europe and Asia in December 2008, and was approved by Health Canada in May 2008. Furthermore, the FDA in the USA approved this technology in May of 2010.
Ulthera® technology employs focused ultrasound to shrink tissue, and stimulate collagen and elastin formation 3 to 5 mm under the skin surface which non-invasively lifts and tightens soft tissues of the brow, neck and face. This device utilizes familiar ultrasonic energy to both image and treat the skin along with its underlying support structures. The Ulthera® device represents a new category of non-invasive aesthetic modalities.
