FAQs
How
does the ultrasonic face lift procedure work?
It utilizes an ultrasonic device. Dr. Cole touches the smooth ultrasound
applicator to the face, which allows him to actually see into the skin
and the tissues beneath. As with other sonograms, an image is projected
onto a screen that both you and Dr. Cole can see. This same hand piece
is then used to deliver low levels of heat energy at just the right
depth below the skin to achieve a positive effect, leaving the surface
of your skin unharmed. The skin colour and degree of tanning do not
effect the efficacy or safety of this procedure. The skin’s response
to the energy is to contract slightly right away, and then to stimulate
the growth of new collagen over time. A gradual tightening occurs, ultimately
resulting in a natural, beneficial lift of facial skin tissue.
How is this procedure different than other non-surgical skin
tightening procedures?
The new ultrasonic face lift is the only skin rejuvenation procedure
that uses ultrasound imaging and therapy. The ability to utilize an
established technology to both see below the skin and then treat it
with great precision, helps ensure both safety and a significant aesthetic
outcome.
What
kind of results can I expect?
With just one treatment, the regenerative process is initiated, but
the full effect will build gradually over the course of two to three
months. In the FDA clinical trial, nine out of ten patients had a noticeable,
significant lift of the brow line, resulting in a more open, refreshed
appearance overall. Patients reported firmer, tighter, more fit-looking
skin as well.
What can I expect afterwards?
You are able to return to your normal activities right away and there
are no special measures you need to take.
Your skin may appear a bit flushed or puffy immediately after the treatment,
but any redness should disappear in a matter of hours.
Is Ultrasonic Therapy safe?
Ultrasound energy has been used in medical diagnostic imaging such as
fetal ultrasounds, and therapeutics such as physiotherapy, for over
50 years. Clinical studies have confirmed the safety of this latest
application. As with any medical procedure there are general safety
considerations, which will be reviewed with the patient and Dr. Cole.
