Red Vascular Lesions

Spider veins, rosacea, small leg veins and reddish scars can all be treated using our pulsed dye laser system. Our VBeam system has a well-documented history of safely treating vascular lesions for over fifteen years; however, new improvements to this laser system allows effective treatments with minimal to no bruising. It is designed to deliver an intense but gentle burst of laser light to the skin. The laser light is specifically absorbed by the blood vessels in the vascular lesion without affecting the surrounding tissue. These vessels are gently heated and coagulated. The body then reabsorbs the treated blood vessels during the natural healing process.

What conditions are treated with the pulsed dye laser system?
•facial veins
•leg veins
•rosacea (diffuse facial redness) affecting the skin of the face around

What precautions should be taken before and after treatments?
It is recommended to avoid sun exposure and tanning of the areas to be treated throughout the course of treatment. Immediately following the treatment, the area may be slightly swollen and may feel warm. The post-procedure recommendation is to avoid sun exposure or scrubbing the treated area for the first few days following treatment. Pressure stockings may be required after leg vein treatment.

What does the treatment involve?
The patient will wear protective safety eyewear to shield the eyes from the laser light. A small hand piece will be used deliver the laser energy to the skin. A gentle spray of coolant onto the skin will be felt just before each laser pulse. The treated area may be slightly pink for up to two days after treatment, and if necessary, this can be easily camouflaged with make-up. Most patients return to their normal activities right after the treatment.

Why should a vascular lesion be treated?
Many people are uncomfortable and self-conscious about vascular skin imperfections. With a means of treatment as safe and effective as the laser therapy available at The Cole Clinic, there is simply no reason to live with this concern.
