Who is it for?
The UltraShape™ treatment has been designed to help average to moderately overweight men and women acquire an improved body contour. It offers an alternative to patients seeking effective reduction of localized fat deposits without liposuction or surgery.
What body areas are treated?
The UltraShape™ treatment focuses on the abdomen, inner and outer thighs (“saddle bags”), flanks (“love handles") and male breasts (gynecomastia). The transducer is too large to treat other smaller areas like the underarms, knee area, and such. However, there is talk of smaller transducers in the future, so stay posted.
What results can I expect?
In a multi-center, controlled, clinical trial, an average of 2 cm reduction in circumference was achieved after a single treatment of the abdomen, outer thighs, or flanks. In independent studies and in commercial use, multiple treatments have shown incremental circumference reduction with high patient satisfaction. The average 3 treatment circumference reduction with Ultrashape Contour Version 3 ranges from 3.5 to 6.3 cm. Some studies have demonstrated an additional 2.5 cm of circumference reduction with the addition of the radiofrequency component of the treatment.
How does the UltraShape treatment work?
The UltraShape™ treatment uses scientifically proven, non-invasive ultrasound technology to deliver focused ultrasound at a precise depth within the subcutaneous fat layer to break open fat cells and release your unwanted fat. The focused ultrasound energy selectively targets and disrupts only fat cells in the chosen body area without harming surrounding or deeper tissues such as nerves or blood vessels. What happens to the fat?
During the UltraShape™ treatment, the membranes of the fat cells are disrupted. The fat cell content, primarily comprised of triglycerides, is dispersed into the fluid between the cells and then transported through the vascular and lymphatic systems to the liver. The liver makes no distinction between fat coming from the UltraShape treatment and fat originating from consumed food. Both are processed by the body’s natural mechanisms.
What happens after treatment?
As soon as the session is over, you can immediately resume your daily routine. There is no recuperation period, and no need for follow-up visits. Patients state that there is no post-treatment pain or discomfort. The skin surface remains smooth and the fat texture remains homogenous.
What does the UltraShape treatment feel like?
