Eyelid Surgery : Introduction

Blepharoplasty Surgery
Blepharoplasty surgery (the removal of excess skin and or underlying fat in the upper or lower eyelid areas) is performed to cosmetically and functionally rejuvenate the eyelids and associated structures. Some of us get excess skin developing in our upper eyelids, as early as our 30’s or 40’s, which may lead to some drooping and the appearance of aging eyes. Others may experience loose skin, wrinkles, and bags forming underneath the eyes, as the fat bulges forward. Some will have both. This may result in a saggy or sad appearance that may make us appear older or tired.

It is not uncommon to perform cosmetic eyelid surgery on patients in their 30's and 40's. Despite exercising, staying fit, and eating healthy foods, our eyes may be aging due to the genetics we’ve inherited. Many of us find ourselves looking older than we feel. Our friends may be asking us if we are tired or upset. Droopy and baggy eyelids simply make us look tired and older. Our eyes are one of our most important and noticeable facial features. The framing of our eyes determines a great deal as to how we are perceived. It is said that over 90 % of our communication is non-verbal. By rejuvenating the eyelids, we send the message that we are more refreshed, alert and youthful.

Eyelashes are also important in framing our eyes and creating a youthful vibrant appearance.  If your eyelashes are weak, ask us about LATISSE, an eyelash enhancing medication which can be applied to your upper eyelids and result in fuller, darker, longer lashes in 8 to 16 weeks.”
