These include many forms of sun damage to the skin, such as age spots, brown spots, freckles, melasma, cafe-au-lait spots, and seborrheic keratosis. Our laser, light, and skin care treatments are generally very effective at reducing and removing this pigmentation from the skin.
The reduction of brown pigmentation that occurs with treatment is considered permanent, however people often get new spots appearing as they continue to age and spend time outdoors. Many of the new spots that appear with time, are a result of the cumulated sun exposure received in earlier years. Those who are fair skinned and those with more sun exposure have increased propensity to this ongoing pigmentation problem. Good sun avoidance and use of sun screens is important if you wish to minimize the occurrence of more brown pigmented changes.
Our four treatment options for hyperpigmentation include:
• Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Phototherapy
• GentleLase™
•
Laser Skin Resurfacing
• SkinTx™ Hyperpigmentation Skin Care System Program 3
Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) Phototherapy
IPL utilizes the power of pulsed light to deliver excellent phototherapy results. By selecting the appropriate wavelength of light, we can treat a broad range of skin conditions caused by skin aging and sun exposure. The intense light energy gently heats the upper layers of the skin. The heat absorbed by the targeted areas stimulates the skin cells to generate new collagen. This process will improve your skin, blending its natural colors and making it smoother, and more vibrant. In addition, the photo-thermal energy will reduce or eliminate fine vessels that cause redness and reduce unwanted melanin that produces pigmented lesions. This is a noninvasive and gentle procedure with virtually no downtime. In most cases, you are able to return to work, apply makeup, and resume most of your activities immediately.
GentleLase™ Laser
This
is very effective in spot treatments to the face, neck, back of hands, or other areas where the skin is mostly unaffected except for a number of more discrete lesions. Areas can also be “painted” if the condition is more diffuse. Redness, small facial veins, and brown spots, malasma and freckling can be significantly reduced with the use of this laser.
Laser Skin Resurfacing
This treatment
can be very effective in reducing and eliminating brown pigmentation, when you are also seeking to improve some wrinkles as well. This treatment will require 3-5 days of down time, but is well worth it for the degree of improvement of both wrinkling and pigmentation. For more details, read about Laser Resurfacing.
The SkinTx™ Hyperpigmentation Skin Care System Program 3
This
is an all inclusive, very effective pharmaceutical skin restoration system designed specifically to treat hyperpigmentation disorders of the skin such as melasma, chloasma (pregnancy mask), age spots, liver spots, freckles and hyperpigmentation that occurs as a result of sun exposure, pregnancy or the use of oral contraceptives. Melasma, often after pregnancy, can be difficult to treat, and very prone to recur with sun exposure. It can be improved greatly with the use of this product and strict sun avoidance and the regular use of quality sunscreens. If used alone on a regular basis, it can make a significant improvement in most forms of hyperpigmentation. Faster and more dramatic results may be achieved when used in conjunction with our other light and laser treatments.
The above procedures can also be used in combination with our SilkPeel™/Microdermabrasion and Vivier SkinTx™ skin care products to help you achieve and maintain the best results possible. |
